Or a high facial width to height ratio. Mayweather, Canelo, Pacquiao, Marquez etc... and the chinny overrated boxers like David Price and Amir Khan have narrow weak looking faces...

There's actually been a lot of studies on this. Basically men with wider faces relative to the length of their faces have higher testosterone on average and are more aggressive and competitive.

A really telling study that I read was that men with broader faces are less likely to die in contact violence.... This makes me think about the potential relation this has to a fighters chin and heart..

It most likely has to do with the fact that the force of a punch is spread over a larger surface and is therefore less effective. Also, those with wider faces tend to have in their background somewhere a genetic link with the serfs of Europe and Slavic Eastern Europe who, when the modern era came along, emigrated in large numbers to the western World. if u know anything about boxing u would see that zab was moving backwards while throwing that punch............he was MOVING while throwing that punch (so it didn't land with full power)

his feet wasn't planted..........his body was in the motion of moving from the punch when he threw it. (he didn't sit down on that punch nore was his feet completely planted) the punch didn't have full power on it..........also not only that but it was one punch. guys like froch and hagler (who we were talking about) have been hit flush & even with combos that snaps the head back.......

alexander was landing shots on the move, so was judah.

peterson, Ajose. didn't really land anything........

now vivian harris did.......(his feet was planted, & he dug into a right hand) it snapped Matthysses head backwards (that completely blew up & closed matthysses eye) and thats the only time that i saw Matthysse get hit flush like that.........one time.
