It's nothing to do with the how wide the head is, it's all about the brain/cranium structure.
Chinny guys like Khan have small brains compared to their head size, which means there is a lot of empty space for their brains to bounce around and get damaged. The more head trauma you take throughout your career (especially as a youngin); the weaker your chin will be.
