I remember this, and months before the fight was made Donaire was like, fighting Rigo is a waste... he's not on my level, etc... I think Donaire peaked and he wont be able to handle it too well. I mean, isn't he almost in his mid 30's? Too bad his legacy is being tarnished by the excuses he is constantly throwing up. Sigh.

    1st person, "Yooo, remember Donaire?"

2nd person, "yeah man, that dude that Rigod whooped and made all those excuses?"

    1st person, "yup LOL"

clearly donaire recognized the threat level of rigo... so why give him a payday? high risk, low reward.... all that "not on my level" talk was just to cool everyones jets... he KNEW rigo was legit. i interpreted his initial excuses as "rigo hasnt paid his dues yet". which is VERY true and i agree 100%. 'nito was on the cusp of serious stardom. why risk that for a pure boxer that can beat you AND potentially sour a crowd that came to see action.

i honestly think rigo will get the "winky" treatment. i HOPE he can break out and get some shine, but i really think he will just be avoided and fade into the background.... networks dont want him... fighters dont want him... tough situation.

i feel 'nito peaked too, but i think with some good matchmaking and some great KOs, he can continue his trajectory to stardom before calling it quits.

          lol You better believe it.

All that crap about not watching film... lol Suuure, Nonito.

Who really believes that a professional P4P fighter and his professional coaching staff didn't study film on an amateur legend? Donaire and his peeps knew Guillermo was a major threat. It just so happened that they had a few built-in excuses not to fight the man right away. In retrospect, I'm surprised they finally gave Rigo a shot at all. For that, I give Nonito some props.

Yeah I think he can have a nice comeback but he wont reach the level he was at before Rigo. In terms of stardom, no more. He reached his limit. He is recognized as a great fighter but there's only so many times you can ko Vic Dar. before the public moves on. About Rigo, dude is very talented but he doesn't please HBO apparently. Sad to say, but this is perhaps his one and only career defining duel. Unless of course GBP snatches him up and he goes to war vs Leo and Mares.

i think Donaire is a good fighter but definitely not a Rigondeaux' level. Before the fight i expected Rigondeaux to do what he did. Donaire had never face an opponent like Rigondeaux, in my opinion. The whole thing he sad about attacking the body, that wouldnt be possible because he was worried about getting caught with Rigondeaux' great counter punching ability. Again, this is my opinion. As it is also that rigondeaux is more skillful than any other boxer in the sport, including floyd mayweather. Like Jim Lampley said "the opposition has not been the same" but i think there's no one as sharp and as talented as he is.
