Ah, the "they're all on it' mindset of the cheat. Toney was caught **** to rights, his wins were about as real as Ben Johnson's 9.79 for the 100 and Lance Armstrong's 7 TDF wins. Worse, he put his opponent's lives in danger for his own personal gain.

In terms of fantasy fights if you really want to pick a roid cheat, then you have to level the playing field and picture Golovkin on steroids and how effective he would then be. Of course he is not a cheat however, so the discussion is moot.

This is a good matchup. It would've been a great fight. I'd have to go with Toney. He had a granite chin, solid defense and an excellent offensive arsenal. It would be no walk in the park though.

I like GGG, but he's done nothing or beat anybody to be mentioned in the same breath of a prime James Toney.

GGG is tailor made for toney...

Toney excels vs a come forward power puncher like GGG

Toney carves him up and wins a UD or late stoppage.....

Toney just too good back in the day,, Im talking about pre-roy jones fight... That toney was outstanding and one of the best of the last 30 years or so...
            He beats down GGG

              This is the good one.

There is no way to say who would win atm. We know Toney's limits, but we don't know GGG's. Genady needs more top fights to be examined in this sense.

What if GGG beats Martinez, Ward and Froch. Would you still think Toney takes him with an ease...

A prime toney bombs on all those guys,,,,

A prime toney wasnt just a great fighter,, he was a one-of-a-kind fighter,,, Outstanding defense, outstanding chin, outstanding counters, outstanding power, outstanding ring smarts,,,
The only thing that could beat a prime toney was toney himself,, Dude was lazy... He never had a great work ethic but just coasted on talent....

So if Sugar Ray Robinson was in this era noone could choose him over Toney as there is just noone he can beat to prove that?

And no I am not saying GGG is next SRR or that he would beat Toney.

So you are basically saying that prime James Toney is unbeatable?
