Comments Thread For: Golovkin Responds To Ward Over Recent Comments

WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24KOs) gave a response to come of the recent comments that were made by WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs). The possibility of a Ward-Golovkin match is gaining speed with the fans. Ward questioned Golovkin's defensive skills .

"One thing that you see is, he hasn't had a reason to be concerned with defense. Everybody gets hit, but he is hittable," Ward said in the aftermath of Golovkin's knockout victory over Matthew Macklin last month.

This doesn't read like a Golovkin statement, it's worded more like one from his coach. Maybe it was interview given in his own language.

Golovkin's defense is pretty good for a pressure fighter. He gets hit flush when he goes into terminator mode, but when he's still figuring out how he wants to attack he is good at avoiding punches.

Just fight Ward or Froch already. Froch already wants it and hes the money maker for anything close to that division. 3 months ago everybody from 160 to 175 was allegedly ducking this dude. Unless GGG fights Chavez Jr or Kid Chocolate there is no reason to stay at 160 fighting tomato cans.

It's obviously a translation. Golovkin is just learning English -- don't expect him to make elaborate statements.

(If Ward stays away from injuries they would make an interesting fight -- Ward annihilates the opponents' styles)...

                    Duh.

I do like the last sentence though - "This is a direct step towards our battle"
