What can Pacquiao do to improve now?

Congratulations to Manny Pacquiao on one of the most impressive wins I've seen in a while. I thought he was getting slaughtered by the middle of the thing but round 6 turned it all around for him.

But of course there's always room for improvement in a fighter's game...so what do people think Manny has to work on after seeing the fight on Saturday? A few things come to mind for me:

    - Defensive footwork. When facing a Morales onslaught Paq would usually step back rather tentatively, or sometimes, oddly enough, it looked like he was stepping into it. His chin and his improved ability to block shots helped him, but he can't necessarily rely on that to save him every time out.

    - Consistency. Paq used the jab and the right hook quite well in the early going, then appeared to abandon them completely, only to get back into form later on to dominate the rest of the way. Better to cut out those lapses and not lose the rounds.

    - Jabbing. Paq was better using it but was still not all that great. In the later rounds he was relying more on hooks and lefts to wear down Morales. An opponent with a bit more life will need to be worked more carefully.

    Anyway, just my thoughts.

He will also be a slugger but his right hand is showing up alot more now and his head movement is better. He should tighten up his defense but he is what he is. And thats enough to give anybody hell.

pac looks off balance alot...but he seems to like it...if it works for him then why not leave it at that??

yea he just need to work on his defense other than hand power and speed he is good

That right is what did it for him for sure. At the very least it's a distraction so he can set up his left. But it seemed to have a lot of pop to it as well.

Manny is a great fighter any way you look at it, but it seems like he's really getting the hang of improving his all-around game now, so that's why I brought this all up.

he is unbalance alot so if he ever gets hit at the wrong time ha can have a flash ko againts him. but his speed makes up for that he is fast and hasnt gotten caught with it yet.

I like how manny said it...there is always room for improvement.

Manny is a great figther and a great human being.

I wish I could have that kinda confidence he had the burden of a whole country on his shoulders! and he carried it well, dont be surprised if this guy becomes president of the phillipines when he retires.

pac's defense... though it was better in this fight, he was hit by so many counter right hooks straight to the middle of the face!!! right hand should be up on his chin while punching with the left and vice versa... ala morales... that's the one thing that shows how disciplined morales is with his defense, hands always on his face

                    1. When he throws his jab his left seems to flail a bit and he kept on getting countered
                    2. When he flurries he tends to stop after a few combos which always gave Morales the chance to come back
                    3. Yeah, balance
                    4. Maybe throw in a left uppercut cause I he always had a chance to do it during the fight in close

But those right hooks to the body looked devastating and his left always seemd to connect on Morales even though he had his right hand up
