Three and a half years ago rising Russian light heavyweight Igor Michalkin barely got past tough Frenchman Doudou N’Gumbu (then 20-1) over eight rounds with a majority decision. Michalkin (10-0 before that fight), 24 at the time, was on his way up and was considered a prodigy worth looking at – specifically, after having a banner year in 2009… He lost his unbeaten record and his steam with it in the very next fight, dropping a UD 10 to Aleksy Kuziemski.
