it doesn't matter, once I saw Danny was able to take (well, for what it's worth, clinch his ass off after taking bombs), I knew it was his fight. No way Lucas was getting a decision against Garcia, too much money invested in that kid.

gmafb, nobody picked morales to beat him, and the khan fight was deservedly propped as Khan was owning him until Danny landed his prayer shot

honestly if danny had fought a bit more off the back foot like he did against lucas he would've had a lot more success against Khan (because if he hadn't landed that huge shot, Khan might have gotten a stoppage)

people easily forget how badly danny was getting whooped up on prior to the 3rd round

khan is a very talented offensive fighter, he just has awful defense

Khan was going to stop Garcia ? but Lucas couldn't in 12 ... Slap yourself. Khan was an 8-1 favorite Lucas was 3-1 they aren't protecting Garcia if anything they've been trying to force a loss on him... He just keeps winning. And as long as they keep putting him in with guys who rely on one thing be it speed (khan) or power (Lucas) he will continue to win. It's going to take a complete fighter to beat Garcia.

fighting off the back foot can be described as "working" if you mimic what Zab did against Lucas. Lucas landed MUCH MORE CLEANLY and frequently against Danny than he did against Zab.

and keep proving your lack of knowledge of the sport by posting more bull****. you don't score rounds based on whether or not a guy is fighting well off the back foot, you score by clean effective punching FIRST, and in the first 6 rounds, lucas landed the more clean effective punches in at least 4 of those rounds, it's even more apparent from this footage as you really see how ineffective some of Danny's movement is (he tries taking steps laterally and still keeps getting caught)

I originally thought it was caused by one of Danny's left hooks or something, sorry but that was luck - bad luck for Matthysse. To have that kind of swelling from something so innocuous is just plain unfortunate.

22:34 is where Garcia hits lucas with the palm of his glove, hard to see from the vantage point because it's dead straight on from where the dude is sitting filming, so all you see is the back of Danny's head

what's a real shame is it's the same spot Vivian harris swelled up, but since that fight was so low-key, we don't know if Lucas had that same part of his orbital broken in that fight. would be interesting to find out. if it did break vs Vivian Harris, this could be a serious problem for Matthysse in the future

Malignaggi ringside originally said the punch missed but I don't know what way Garcia caught him to do that much damage. What you're saying about a potential previous break in the Vivian Harris fight would certainly explain the instant swelling.

Assuming he can get healthy, the eye could be a problem for Matthysse in the future but not to the same extent as Margarito since unlike Antonio, Matthysse actually knows how to block shots.

I thought that originally too but both fighters were under Haymon and the scores weren't that lop-sided.

Nevertheless, with full vision, Matthysse may not have had to rely on the judges. We'll never know. It was Danny's night, he deserved the win but I think most of us would like to see a rematch at some point.
