  • Comments Thread For: Canelo: Robert Guerrero Did Not Have a Game Plan

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is taking on the toughest and biggest challenge of his career as he will tangle with the best fighter in the sport when he faces Floyd “Money” Mayweather on September 14th in Las Vegas, NV.

While this is currently the biggest fight that can be made, many still feel Alvarez is simply too young and inexperienced to be facing a fighter like Mayweather at this stage of his career. Alvarez is the youngest champion at the moment at 22 years old but he feels this is his time to make his own transition to the top of the sport.

“Well, that's what's left to take that next step. Floyd was in my position at one point. Oscar [De La Hoya] was in my position. Julio Cesar Chavez was in my position. This is what's left to give that next big step” Alvarez would tell BoxingScene.

I like Canelo's attitude in the approach to this fight. He isnt downplaying Mayweather like its gonna be some easy task or pointing out flaws that dont exist. This is gonna be a good scrap, win or lose. I just hope the undercard has some good fights (Machine vs Garcia **fingerscrosed**)

I was horribly disappointed in Guerrero. He fought like he truly believed he would knock Mayweather out with a single shot. He completely ignored the two best attributes he has: his jab and combination punching.

Guerrero thought he was gonna be able to box with Cherrypicker and match him skill for skill, when he should've been trying to grind it out with Cherrypicker the whole time

it doesn't matter what kind of strategy the ginger has, he'll gas after 6 rounds and then it will be over. whatever strategy he has, he better factor in the fact that he will gas. the only plausible strategy for the ginger is to try to win the first 6 rounds as convincingly as possible, and then hope GBP can pay enough judges off to give him a few rounds in the second half of the fight... especially when the ginger tries to get his second wind ib the championship rounds

Like Mike Tyson said, 'everybody has a game plan until they get hit.' We can only hope that the fight lives up to the hype.

he did have a gameplan, to counter the counter-puncher

it was just ******ed, the plan should have been to impose his crazy stamina on floyd

              I was just thinking that...
I agree with what Golovkin said though.... won't be as exciting as people think.
People will cheer when Canelo throws the occasional combo or when Mayweather lands flush.... but that's about it.

Maybe folks will now understand, Floyd nullifies any game plan.

another sucker lining up to get beat. alvared has a resume full of 147 pounder taco venders. he's going to find out that none of those guy in this life time comes nowhere near what mayweather does in the ring offensively and defensively. money's intelegence and ring generalship is off the charts.
