Russian light heavyweight Igor Michalkin outscored WBO I/C champ Doudou Ngumbu Friday night in Thiais, France. Michalkin won a split decision on scores of 116-112 and 115-113 with a vote for Ngumbu at 115-114. The fight was even after six but Michalkin was the stronger man down the stretch. Working his corner was trainer Bulent Baser, promoter Erol Ceylan and IBF # 1 ranked cruiser Aleksander Alekseev.
