He has blown out many highly ranked opponents, is very articulate, has high ethical standards, cuts across demographic lines, so from a marketing perspective - Donaire is good for business, and Arum is wise old businessman.

Donaire will blow out Darchinyan and put to rest the claims that it was just a lucky punch the last time. Then Donaire will notch a few more spectacular wins and be resurrected in the top P4P where he rightfully belongs.

If Rigo can hold the title for a year or so, Donaire will be primed and ready looking for that much anticipated rematch - and uncle Bob wins again.

Come on man put the Donaire Pom Poms down. Donaire is not that markable period the Rigo fight was sold out because boxing wanted to see a real fight not a mismatch. Every fight I seen Donaire fight the arena have been empty and even Filipinos don't like the guy.

Your only partially right. Filipinos were not used to Donaire because he was different from Pac's quiet and humble ways. They considered him to be too 'Americanized', especially during the skirmish with his father - Filipinos don't like to see children saying anything negative against their parents.

But Filipinos have become accustomed to his talkative ways, and now that his family is at peace, all is good with Filipinos and Donaire. Keep in mind that, he has a strong following in North America too, especially from the Bay Area, and because he looks and acts so middle class he can generate a strong following from a wider audience.

He already was way too cocky, he needed a lesson to realize that there are some great fighters out there.

He needed to be brought down to earth

I tend to agree. He did not take Rigo seriously and he paid the price. Easy and successive wins, the P4P ranking and media coverage all got to his head. I hope that he learns his lesson and bounces back, because he is an exciting fighter to watch.

What a joke, this is almost as bad as Floyd draining his opponent at a catch weight
