Comments Thread For: Lennox Lewis, Frank Maloney Resolve Issue Over Price Loss

Former champion Lennox Lewis has resolved the outstanding issue with promoter Frank Maloney. Lewis trained heavyweight David Price (15-2, 13KOs), who Maloney promotes, for last Saturday's rematch with Tony Thompson. In February, Price was stopped by Thompson in two rounds. Last Saturday Thompson was dropped in the second but came back to stop Price in the fifth.

Some of the reports out there had Maloney blaming Lewis for the loss.

It was all down to conditioning which is nothing to do with Lewis, a trainer can't teach a fighter much in a full camp nevermind 3 weeks.

Trainer shows you what to do and helps you prepare. But their work can only take you so far once you get in that ring and get it.

I am not saying that Lennox is not doing the good thing with Price, but Lennox himself never fought southpaw if I remember right.

Price's jab (however average) was completely missing in this fight as it is always much harder to jab southpaw coming from angles. It appeared to me David didn't have the plan how to beat TT apart from landing a big straight right. But you can't win the fight by throwing same punch over and over again.

TT is very tricky guy. It took Wlad a few rounds in the first fight to figure him out.

He'll learn a lot more from this fight than the first one, he made the amateur mistake of throwing everything at him and not stopping him. Many fighters make this mistake when they step up and learn to manage it and not push themselves to exhaustion in future fights. Lewis will improve Price as a fighter he just needs more than 3 weeks to do it.

Price needs to make some sacrifices and haul his ass to america. get some quality sparring and conditioning.

That was funny how Price ran out of gas in the fight.
