That is an honest and objective post! I too am Mexican American and feel the same way. While it's hard to argue against Mayweather, I always think of it as a boxer capitalizing on what THEY do well while exploiting whatever weakness the opposition has. If Canelo is savvy enought to perform both feats, which would ultimately mean fighting Canelo's fight, then he'd have a GREAT shot (notice i didn't say win). I speak generally of course, but if there are things I chalk up to Canelo, it would be his patience, power, ring generalship (i.e., cutting the ring effectively) - in no particular order. This, beyond a doubt, would be his most toughest fight to date - whether weight is truly an issue or not, I think he's got a great chance. Admittedly, I was a person who mulled over the catchweight - but it is what it is.

good post ray. the only way this could remotely be a bad thing is if this ends like Davey Moore vs Duran, which I'm sure wont considering floyd doesn't puch as hard as duran and caneo is far more experienced than moore.

But there is no situation where a 22 yr old fighter is getting eight figures is a bad thing.

        lol..

money is probably his second reason.. besides pride.. the only thing I can say about this scrap.. is he's better have head movement and lateral footwork to even have a chance at landing anything significant.. because like I've always said.. Floyd money has faced straight ahead fighters (other than Cotto) where his straight right carried the fight to a win.. cotto has been by far his most skilled fighter he's faced and he busted him up.. I was embarrassed for boxing that night to see Vegas/haymon/GBP have them judges give cotto so little credit..

regardless, this kid better come in with some stamina.. because Floyd's a student of the game and he's right now laying out the plan "let him take a step forward, I let go of the straight right and pivot right" that's it.. "laters rounds he gasses.. so I can throw more and cruise to a UD".. after the fight "i'm the greatest, I beat him down, hopefully he can go back to the drawing board and come back to be a champion again, he's a great champion, I take my hat off to him.. i'd like to thanks my daddy Al Haymon, my other daddy Floyd Mayweather Sr., golden boy promotions, the money team, and god"..

I also think there's too much $$ to be lost if FM loses.. so the pressure is on canelo to come take it.. cause if this fight's anywhere close.. they're going to give it to mayweather.. I would not put it past haymon telling money, "end on your feet and you win"..

I agree with you about the head movement - Alvarez definitely needs to work on that and it's definitely going to be an opportunity for Mayweather - a true sharpshooter.

You would love to see Floyd stand toe to toe so Canelo can have an easier fight? How do you sound? Tell Canelo to go stand toe to toe with Ward, Triple G, etc.........

Every fight is different. Size matters and you dont fight guys the same way. Sorry if Floyd isnt dumb enough to fight like you want him to. Its not Floyd's job to make it easier for Canelo to beat him
I think alot of these dumbasses think thats what Floyd should do

I don't doubt his sincerity. He gained my complete respect when he faced Trout and won, damn near by knockout. Even if he loses, Canelo is a new star of boxing.

Not so fast. If Canelo loses, he will definitely have a larger fan base. Win or lose, it'll be that way. But I wouldn't go as far as saying he'll be the new star though.

Because if Canelo loses by getting dominated, that means his mistakes would've been exposed brightly for the world to see. And future opponents will take advantage of the 'blueprint' that was laid out for them.
