      Don't change the subject.

***** Barrera insulted PAC and when PAC challenged him to back up his insult, he goes running to Hoya, what a coward!

In this new era of boxing. Reputation and results of your career culminates as recognition as to who is the real champ.

Pacquiao has proven he isn't afraid to fight anyone.
Barrera, Marquez, Morales twice, with one scrub inbetween is an impressive list.
This fight will probably be a 50/50 split. These guys need each other to make big money.
There's a good $4-$5 million to be made off this fight and split between these two guys.
There's nobody else that either of them can match up with that will bring that sort of money to the table.
The potential snag definitely won't come from Pac, it might come from Barrera.
If Barrera's interested in making the most money he possibly can he will fight Pac, if he's more worried about his health he'll move up in weight and fight Chavez for less money and a belt at 135 lbs to try and make history.
Barrera's kind of screwed here. He got smoked by Pac the last time, it's not often someone avenges a thorough thrashing like that. So it's either take the big payday and get pummeled by Pac again, or move up in weight and have to listen to everyone call him a coward.

          Excellent synopsis.

There are recent examples, some particularly involving Barrera, that belts take second place to reputation:

Barrera faced Fana for a belt then unified two belts by beating Peden. The interest (as reflected in PPV and gate sales), lumped together, does not compare with either one of the two Pac-Morales meetings that were fought for a belt that is a non-belt ("International" title, which makes one a "contender" for the championship title and not a champion. Anyone ever heard of a "contender belt"? It's strange but they do have one...er, many. For each division.)

When Pac won over Barrera all he took home was his paycheck (after expenses and taxes) and no belt. Barrera had earlier thrown away his WBC leather so the fight was for a non-belt. The Ring magazine came to the rescue later and gave Pac its belt, in Manila, not in the fight arena.

Here's another indicator. There's a Jr. Lightweight "WORLD" title fight in March. How many has heard about it? Jorge Barrios shall be defending his title against an opponent whose name is still to be announced (TBA). Now, how many times has anyone heard of a champion with a scheduled title defense against an unknown challenger. Just in case there are those who missed the information and there's a good chance many have, the fight is slated to be at MGM Grand. For every ten reams of newsprint spent on the Pac-Morales non-belt date, Barrios vs. TBA (who is going to be nameless even if his name is announced) for a "world" crown is lucky to have gotten half a page.

Still another. In the Zab-Baldomir fight, IBF bigwigs came to the arena, sat at ringside, expecting Judah to win. Two weeks after Baldomir won, the IBF declared Judah as still owner of its belt because Baldomir did not pay the sanctioning fee. Zab may still have IBF's belt (and similarly WBA's), but he ain't champion. Baldomir is.

              Belts, anyone?

              Wow this guy is good...

here is barrios recent comment from yesterday after watching the pacman fight....

“Barrera, of course, because he has a real name in boxing is a real star, he can be the head of any boxing show. bPacquiao is a tremendous fighter, but he does not have the same big name. Of course, he defeated Barrera and Morales and is a dangerous man. But if I can choose, I would say Barrera. He is for real; he is a tremendous challenge, a real legend. I want Barrera, man”.-barrios

                Lately?

***** Barrera fought a noob instead of fighting PAC or JMM

Then he went on to defraud people by fighting a sparmate.

I can give some excuse for Barrera for fighting a noob in Fana.

But fighting a sparmate and a buddy? WTF! That's outright ***** considering you insulted someone and can't back it up.

                  hey undfeated

I think the guy means that barrera has turned into a ***** because he knows he is hanging on a hair. Barrera is being promoted right..so he can make the most of his career he is not the guy he was before...everyone remembers the barrera who beat HAMED...but it seems oscar knows he can make money of barrera and make him fight guys who dont show much challenge...ayala, fana, peden all good guys but not a challenge. He beat morales and its because he knows morales too well and he knows how to beat him and take his punch but he knows he cant figure out pacman.

I really lost respect for barrera with that comment saying why fight pacman? I dont want morales left overs.

                  That is lame.

Now he seriously aint gonna fight him, its all about money in oscar and barrera's eyes its about the money and the belts because they figure with the wars with morales and the win over Hamed barrera doesnt have to prove himself anymore...they are wrong.

Also the word is Barrera will even fight a ring rusted hamed before a pacman what a shame.

That is why I always liked morales better and morales didnt fight dirty compared to barrera when he fought pacman.

Thanks! There can be two sides to that comment.

Barrera's performance at PPV and the gates recently (Ayala, Peden and Fana dates) are far from desireable. Contrary to what Barrios is saying, MAB's name does not appear to draw the crowds in.

On the other hand, Pacquiao's four last appearances were tremendous, though it can be said that he had Barrera in one and Morales in three (Pac-Morales 1 & 2 as well as Morales-Raheem/Pac-HVelzasquez).

Given the above, it is in the realm of speculation on whether Pacquiao has sufficient following to carry a card. Some may say he can, others may claim he cannot. Not certain.

What is certain is that in the three times that Barrera has appeared without Morales or Pac, he failed to sell. That is not in the realm of speculation. The sales records are there, testaments to that.

What Barrios may be saying is that he wants Barrera because he sees his chances as better with Barrera than with either Pac or Erik. He could be thinking that with a victory over Barrera (and I am not saying this can happen; only Barrios, perhaps, is seeing that it can happen, otherwise, why want MAB?), he can later face Pac with much improved credentials and a bigger payday, than he would have if he faced Pac first, lost, then face MAB. Astute? Maybe.

Just maybe. Because, what if he loses to MAB? Where will that get him?

So, Barrios has a title. WBO. Peden had a title. The Peden fight was a unification match. What Barrios and Barrera shall have, shall similarly be so--unification, if the gods of the alphabets bless them. But what makes Barrios think he and Barrera could do better than Barrera-Peden? How much better is the Barrios name to the Peden name? 1,000...5,000....10,000...20,000 more PPV buys than the Peden fight?

Barrios is not in any position to chose. Beggars are not chosers. If, by some chance, Pac thinks about him, he should thank his stars. Or, if MAB does so. Erik, too.

Barrios got the interview because of his alphabet title, not because he is Barrios. Morales and Pac get airtime and ink for being who they are.

                    Thanks again!

he can explain without offending people man you got a gift.

The only real for sure ppv draw was ERIK MORALES...but I think after last night PACMAN will be a huge draw... they just gotta take a chance on him.
