Where does Brandon Rios rank at the moment?

    Hi,

I'm a casual boxing fan all I watch is Mayweather and Pacquiao. I watch and know other boxer as well but I'm not too familiar with boxing. Anyway I just wanted to know where Brandon Rios rank among the light welterweight and welterweight fighters.

List of boxer I know so you guys can give me an idea of where he stands.
    Bradley
    Mayweather
    Pacquiao
    Lamont Peterson
    Amir Khan
    Lucas Matthysse
    Danny Garcia
    Zab Judah
I know a few more but you guys get the idea... Where does Rios rank among these boxers? Is he just as good as these guys?

He isn't as good as any of the guys you listed. He got outboxed badly by Mike Alvarado. If Alvarado had fought smarter in their first fight Rios would have back to back losses to a pretty average fighter. Rios also should have lost to Abril. He's a mindless brawler. Manny should have his way with him.

Welcome new member! Here's two quick pro-tips.#1 Throw on a pic of an old school fighter from like the 30's in your avatar, that way all the journeymen posters give you tons of respect and will take what you say as the truth, because everyone on NSB knows the more throwback the fighter in your avi is, the deeper your boxing knowledge.

Definitely not top 10 p4p material, but top 20 he cracks surely.

Rios is tough and he punches hard with both hands. He is always on the attack throwing lots of hard punches. He has good stamina and a high work rate. He is very game and he just keeps coming and never quits. He has average speed and he is easy to hit. He is not a very good boxer. He has never fought at 147. I think he rates high at 140. He is rated below Matthysse, Garcia and Alvarado so I rate him as the 4th best 140 pounder in the world. I think he should be rated over Khan and Peterson because they were recently KOed in a few rounds.

Rios is very durable with a strong chin. His actual boxing skill and defense are rather limited but he offsets it with his aggressiveness and chin. This makes him successful against most fighters until he faces the elite or guys with very good movement. Bradley, Mayweather, Pacquiao and Matthysse would beat him without a doubt in my mind. I would favor Garcia, Khan and Peterson over him but he definitely has a chance against them. Prime Zab beats Rios but at the moment I think Rios wears him down and takes him out late. Zab will have success early though.

I would rank him above Zab near Peterson and Khan. He won't be the same after this Pacquiao fight.

Just about any boxer would beat him. But he would give any ****er a good go, even Mattheus. Not Pacquiao though because Pacquiao has movement.

                    He's simply poor at chasing.
