I believe Clev will beat him. But like Lacy, Kovalev will be written off after the fight and Cleverly won't be given the respect he deserves.

Kovalev is far better than Lacy, but Cleverly's talent and chin should take him over the line in his hometown.

completely agree! clev is very underrated around here and i put that down to him not fighting more often , but given time and more bouts im sure he will start getting a little respect. his talent is ridiculous and his chin is like granite

I their last fight both showed they aren't overrated. I do think Matthysse has fought much better competition though.

For the people jumping all over the thread starter, there are people who act like Matthysse and GGG are these unstoppable destructive forces of nature who can't be beaten. I believe its those particular fans who he's referring to.

In that regard, they are "overrated" equally, possibly a slight edge for Matthysse.

dont think either is overrated, but the fact that LM got outboxed twice even though it was a close decision means it could happen again and against a master boxer like Cherrypicker LM will lose

at least Lucas is the legit top guy in his division
Garcia is champ, but he don't want a piece, so fuck him
GGG is coming up, and Martinez rightfully lost his title to Murray
but Lucas still has more JWW clout than GGG has MW clout

GGG is underrated rather than overrated. U can't compare him to Lucas, this guy is completely different class.

Lucas has losses to a spent Judah and an average Alexander. Golovkin looks ok but he's open and hittable. He needs to step up. Both overrated.

I'd say GGG.

Both are quality fighters, but GGG hasn't yet fought a world class fighter. Matthysse has beaten the better opposition and was robbed on a couple of occasions too.

In terms of being overrated, Kovalev is the most overrated fighter in boxing at the moment. Good fighter, but hasn't beaten anybody approaching world class.

Campillo was world class and better than anyone Cleverly has beaten.

NEITHER. Matthysse has the resume to back his hype. 34-2 (32 KOs). With good wins, and even in his two losses most felt he won, but they were close fights and both oppoenents tasted the canvas. GGG has an ok pro resume, not that great yet but hes doing his best, staying active and dismantaling everyone he fights. The way he fights is amazing, huge power, great ring generalship, underatted defense, cuts off the ring well etc. Plus he has an outstanding amateur record.
