showtime doesn't have the money to pay cotto. they lost around $12 million on mayerweather vs guerrero, which came out of the showtime boxing budget. that's like a 3rd of their budget gone. that's probably why schaefer is trying to put garcia vs matthysse on the mayweather vs canelo ppv. even out the outrageous price of $75 i bet will at least break even. showtime and gbp are on a tight budget, they got the hype but paid a lot to get it.Comment

For Showtime he set the record for them, like I stated. HBO has beaten both those numbers before with Cotto, the Foreman fight for instance.

HBO > Showtime, at least for a little while longer.Saturday night's HBO-televised, ninth-round knockout by Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto that dethroned Brooklyn resident, Yuri Foreman, as WBA junior middleweight (154 pounds) champion and earned Cotto a fourth belt in his third weight class was the cable network's highest rated boxing main event of the year.
The clash of 29-year-olds featuring Cotto (35-2, 28 knockouts) and Foreman (28-1, eight KOs) was the first-ever fight to be held at the new Yankee Stadium in The Bronx.
The event earnied a 3.9 broadcast rating. Coupled with a Sunday morning replay, the fight was watched by about 1.9 million viewers, HBO has announced.Comment

What's that have to do with anything? No one's implying he's the biggest draw in the sport, but he's the clear #3 right now.
Beat Trout's ass? He won, but he didn't beat Trout's ass. Let's see if he can hang with Mayweather like Cotto did.Comment
