All the Notable Guys at 140 NEED TO GO TO 147LBS ASAP

Give yourself a chance to fight Floyd and Manny before they retire.

Lucas,Garcia, khan, peterson, everybody needs to go to 147. Broner needs to stay there. Marquez and Bradley are already there.

It would instantly make 147 the hottest and deepest division in all of boxing:

    Floyd
    Pacquiao
    Marquez
    Bradley
    Guerrero
    Ortiz
    Berto
    Khan
    Broner
    Peterson
    Matthysse
    Garcia
    Rios
    Judah
    Alvarado
    Devon
    Provodnikov
    Brook

Those are some great possibilities. The weight difference isnt that big and the size of fighters are basically almost the same.

guess you forgot that some of these fighters are HBO & Top Rank fighters so alot of these fantasy fights cant be made. the winner of Matthyse and Danny should go up to 147 since they would prove theyre the undisputed best at 140

take out the promotional politics and just from a purely boxing standpoint, it would be awesome if they all moved up. Some of those guys are from the same promotional firm.

Fighters should stay at the weight class they are comfortable fighting at. They should not move to a heavier weight class on the off chance they get a Mayweather fight. If a 140 pounder is performing well enough Floyd might offer them a fight and they can move up at that time. Bradley and Rios were both fighting at 140 when they were offered a chance to fight Pacquiao. If all the good fighters fighting at 140 moved up to 147 to chase a Mayweather fight it would turn 140 which is now one of the best and most exciting weight classes into one of the weakest weight classes. Floyd is a great fighter but he is not so important that everything should revolve around him.

140 pounders are basically the same as 147 pounders. It would be better for the sport if they all went up to 147 now with floyd and manny still active.

140 pounders are completely different than 147,,, yes some guys can move up ala ortiz, floyd, maidana....

But the prime example of the difference would be hatton...

hatton a monster at jr welter...

                a bum at welter....

hatton wasnt a monster anywhere. he was a fairly limited fighter with limited boxing skills and power and was a fairly short man with short arms. not like khan who has a pretty good sized physique or lucas who has great power.

Garcia, Matthysse, Khan, Broner all have the capability to fight effectively at 147. Its not like these guys started at 106 or 118lbs. 147 lb fighters are basically the same height/body physique as 140 pounders.

If two fighters are of equal quality then 7 pounds does make a difference in favor of the naturally bigger man. 140 is not a new weight class. It has been around since the 1920s so even then they did not think 140 was the same as 147. Floyd seems to think even two pounds makes a difference. Why would it be better for the sport to have a super strong, super deep welterweight class and a very weak very shallow jr. welterweight class? You have a right to your opinion but I disagree that all the good 140 pound fighters that feel good at that weight should move to 147 and fight bigger men just because Mayweather fights at welterweight. Floyd only has 4 fights left and if Canelo beats him one of those 4 fights will probably be a rematch. If Floyd wins he might fight at 154 or 152 again. If a fighter is already a champion at 140 then dropping his title to move to 147 might not be a good career move for such a long shot as a fight with Floyd.
