Comments Thread For: Adamek Sees No Financial Point in Facing Wlodarczyk

A few days ago, WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (48-2-1, 34 KOs) said he was open to the idea of moving up to the heavyweight division to face countryman Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KOs), a former champion at 175 and 200-pounds. For the moment, Adamek does not express the same kind of interest in facing his compatriot. If there was a million dollars on the table, Adamek says the opportunity would be tempting but he doesn't expect a match with Wlodarczyk to come close to that amount - even in Poland. Thats the same reason he won't fight Jennings or anyone with the slightest chance of beating him, hence he's fighting Tony Grano in August. I like the guy as a fighter, but he needs to fight someone with a pulse or just hang em up. He would own Stiverne or any limited one dimensional HW. He gets in close fights with the former cruiserweights who are younger and quicker than him.

too bad, that sounds like it would be a fight of the year candidate now. if they fought back then at cruiser i think adamek wins easy. if adamek stayed at cruiser we could have seen lots of good fights with him and huck, lebedev, afolabi and the bunch. can't remember if guillermo jones was on a hiatus while adamek was in that division but that would have been a good one then and now

He has lowed a bit - lots of wars, I understand why he has been getting o many gift decisions. He is getting up there and needs to stay relevant for a big $ fight to cash out !The Adamek of 2008 - 2011 was a beast, Vitali gave him a beating took a lot out of him. Jennings will KO him - too much of a dog! Adamek is a step slower, Jennings can fight at a serious pace and make adamek fight.

i like that fight. i dont think jennings stops him though. adamek still throws a lot and seems to have most of his legs. it's a pick em fight for me. i like jennings and he seems like a good prospect/contender. i dont know if he has the movement/speed to give adamek problems the way cunningham did. but he does have better power than cunningham, which could factor in.

hey now, grano may become a future HOF/ATG journeyman.
but yeah, much more lucrative fights for adamek. even chris byrd would be better if he's serious about coming back

What else is new? Adamek sees no financial point in fighting Pulev, Jennings, etc.

But Tony Grano brings big money!

As much as I like Adamek I believe he is an old 36 and its really time for him to call it a day and he should retire.

Adamek use to be a warrior. Now he just makes lame excuses. His choices are killing his career, not helping it.
