BoxingScene.com has been advised that an interesting middleweight clash is being discussed for September 4th in Australia. According to our sources, undefeated junior middleweight prospect Jonathan "Mantequilla" Gonzalez (16-0-1) has been offered a fight against former super middleweight champion Anthony "The Man" Mundine (44-5).
Gonzalez last fought in January when he defeated Derek Ennis via majority decision. Mundine also last fought in January when he lost an unanimous decision against his rival Daniel Geale. If the fight is finalized it will likely take place at the 160 pound middleweight limit. Gonzalez has recently struggled to get down to the junior middleweight limit, missing weight in two of his past three fights.
