Martinez v Golovkin: Ali v Foreman Part II?

The stage is set, Martinez is an aging champion, P4P one of the best, his speed is slowing and his reflexes dulling, he's been KD, hurt, hand broken, knee damaged, surgery..you name it, Martinez has had to face it, add to that he is 38.

GGG is young, fresh, hungry and hits as hard as anyone I've ever seen. He is meant to destroy Martinez in the eyes of some, people are claiming him to be the best. Some are already writing Sergio's eulogy.

It's kinda the same situation Ali was facing in Zaire in 1974...could it turn out the same way too?

Ali had the chin of the gods, and he could go toe to toe with you. Martinez relies on his legs. He gets tagged too much (Ali did as well, but he had the chin of the gods), and GGG isn't the guy to trade with.

Martinez doesn't have the Ring IQ of Ali.

Agreed but then again who does?

Martinez is still very sharp in that ring and knows how to adapt. I just hope you guys aren't overrating GGG because if he fights Martinez and Martinez is at his best physically, he will lose. GGG has a very good punchers chance but that's all.

Ali and Foreman were both greater than either of these guys.

Agreed but this wasn't meant to compare greatness but rather situations, fading fighter, one of the best in the world against a guy considered the future who hits damn hard

It's a similar situation except for two things :

                    1. Martinez's punch resistance is inferior to Ali's

                    2. Martinez's skillset is vastly inferior to Ali's. That includes defense and nullifying tactics like clinching or pushing your opponent.
