Gennady with the Mike Tyson vibe

I saw this fight with some friends and my mom (because shes cool enough to hang with my friends....sometimes anyway).

They are not avid fan like I am of boxing, so before the fight I told them about Golovkin and told them he might be the next Mike Tyson. They were like pffft, yea ok, this white guy? I doubt it.

Anyways, by the first round they could already tell I wasnt joking. They could see the power in his punches. They were like damn, I think you had some value to that statement.

By the end of these guys were comparing him to Mike Tyson.

He IS very much like prime Mike Tyson I think. They were saying not in appearance or fighting style wise, those are wayyy off. Tyson looked and fought in a barbaric super violent manner. Gennady is violent but in a much more controlled way. And he is similar to him in the sense that you can almost be sure hes getting the knockout.

Only Sergio and Chavez Jr can go the distance with him IMO.

Tyson was very explosive but he wasn't a savage who would just swing with no technique, he showed a lot of skill in the way he slipped punches and the combinations that he threw.

He definitely has that aura about him with his opponents. Macklin was terrified of him and macklin was talking a big game leading up to the fight but once he felt golovkin's power that was it, he was on survival mode from the very first round.

Well, Tyson was a short, incredibly thick guy fighting giants, using his jab to work his way in as well as some slick slipping, weaving, etc. I don't think Genady faces the same challenges as Tyson (stylistically), nor does he fight in the same way. But, the end results are the same so I'll give you that.

Yea I know. Mike Tyson was a lot more technical than most people know. Had something upstairs for sure. But most casuals dont know that they just see a crazy black man swinging.
