More impressive 3rd round stoppage

I wish the ref wouldve allowed Peterson to continue so Matthysee wouldve laid him down for good.
Golovkins body shot wins this one though.Comment

Obviously Matthysse.
A lot of people thought Peterson could actually beat Matthysse.
and that Left hook sent Peterson to hell. It was visually better.
I'm not surprised at the people picking GGG's though. It literally just happened and people are excited about it.Comment

Either way, I still think beating Peterson at 140 is a bigger accomplishment than beating Macklin at 160. Both had stunning KOs (GGG's was a bit better). I also agree that GGG looked much more refined than Matthysse. Still Pederson > Macklin, so I give the nod to Matthysse.Comment

No right or wrong answer really, pederson and macklin were both the litmus test for matthysse and GGG and not only did they pass their tests they both passed it with flying colors.Comment

Can I add kovalevs 3rd round stoppage of campillo to the list? The machine and GGG were equally impressive in my eyes, both stopping durable veterans of their division, both of whom had fought everyone in their respective divisions giving good accounts of themselves. Kovalev destroyed a fighter who many thought of as the man in the division, beatable only by robbery.Comment

I don't think he was overrated, it was more a result of all the top 140s moving up (Bradley, Alexander, Ortiz), and the other top guys losing (Khan) or fighting each other (Rios v. Alvarado). So maybe a few years ago, he was barely top 10, but with the current circumstances he "deserved" to be top 5.
