am i the only one who doesnt think this fight is a big deal?!!!
its just a good fight if it gets made between two fighters that dont really bring anything special.
i mean, garcia is very average in my opinion. matthysse has decent power but again, not so high in the skills department.Comment

The top two guys at 140 going at it. That's what we as fans always should want. The stylistic match up will result in a great fight. The fans want this fight and are split - some people generally hate garcia and/or are big fans of Matthysse while others are fans of Garcia. It's a great fight I have no clue how a boxing fan wouldn't be excited for this.Comment

GBP and TR do whatever they want, and pour in money to try and change the common fans perspective.
Meanwhile fighters like Martinez, Williams (during his time), GGG, Matthysse, Rigo among other had to earn there spot the hard way. And still, big name fighters avoid to fight or unify with them.
For example Sergio, was completely avoided at 154 being rank #1 by the WBC for two years, and had to fight another avoided fighter in Paul Williams to earn some recognition. Eventually had to go up to 160 because nobody would have ever faced him in his natural weight class.
Matthysse has been hanging around 140 for a while and had to face two controversial loses, ko WBC poster child Humberto Soto and fight undefeated Ajose, while Morales and Garcia would get free passes to the title.
We the fans are sometimes are made to think we push for fights but in the end it's the promoters or even the fighters calling the shots.
Garcia v. Matthysse was going to be done regardless of the backlash. Schaefer was elated with Lucas victory over Peterson going as far as calling him the next Manny Pacquiao. Danny's stock fell against Judah and if he ends up losing, there's still Lamont Peterson in the picture. GBP are still in a win win situation.Comment

I wish that were true. That the fans would pressure Promoters into making big fights but I don't believe this fight was made because of the backlash it would have created.

IMO Lucas is the favorite in this fight. But I'm rooting for the underog to beat the odds that are stacked against him.
This fight is ripe for the making now. I waited for the Khan/Bradley that never happened. I hope this one gets doneComment
