I'm with you on this one my brotha....I was trying to think when was the last time Floyd had a legit KO..it's been a while, there's no way he'll even hurt Canelo !!

Corrales was in shape. He said he always made weight but it was hard, but it always turned out fine because he would get his diet right. Corrales even went on to have good wins at 130 afterwards. Same with Castillo who later was champion again at 135 after Floyd beat him twice.

Zab was a good win, nothing special.

Hatton was also a very good win. Hatton actually started out at higher weights than Mayweather did. Mayweather just has the better skills to compete at higher weight classes. Do you think Hatton could move through 5 weights like Floyd has with Hatton's skillset? I really don't.

Mayweather beat Oscar clearly. Don't score fights please if you honestly scored it for Delahoya, and this is coming from a Delahoya fan.

I'll start off by acknowledging that Floyd is the best pound for pound talent in boxing.

With that being said, it bugs me to see fans who believe Floyd has taken fights were he has a chance of losing. Floyd didn't pick Canelo because it's a risk for reward type of fight. He picked Canelo because he didn't look impressive against Trout. And before Canelo garners any more experience to the point were he becomes a real "threat". Floyd, in a bold move to fool the common public and fans, chose to take the young star out of the equation before he gets any better. So when Canelo reaches his prime, Floyd would be there to say "Oh, I already beat him".

During his career Floyd has been very savvy in rising up to stardom. He learned well from Bob Arum on how to develop as a fighter, and later to become a star without risking too much.

If we take a look at Floyd's career, those who really know it's history, could see Floyd avoided risks (with the exception of Jose Luis Castillo at 135) as he climbed through the P4P ranks.

Taking a look back, since 130lb Floyd avoided real challenges. In the back then loaded 130 division, Floyd was setup to fight the weakest and then aging WBC champion Genaro Hernandez (RIP). Meanwhile a unification match with the likes of a young and dangerous Diego Corrales (IBF), a prime and undefeated Joel Casamayor (WBA) and the back then undefeated ko king Acelino "Popo" Freitas (WBO) were never made. Now, let me make it clear that many would point out that he defended against Diego Corrales. BUT some seem to forget that Corrales was facing "domestic violence" charges and was going to be sent to "prison" after the fight with Floyd. Kind of the right time for Floyd's team to make a move. (Moves like this would become the standard)

After Floyd's tenure at 130lb. Floyd stepped up to the plate and faced the FIRST and LAST real threat on his career. A fighter who he fought on even terms, in their primes and without any advantage. That was against Jose Luis Castillo. Those who remember the fight, know how that end up (CONTROVERSIAL). In a rematch he truly proved his talent and skill and won easily. Unfortunately, that was the last time Floyd would ever take a fight on even terms without an advantage.

After, Floyd became MONEY. Went 140 defeated an over the hill Gatti, never fought Tyszu. Went to 147 fought an over matched Baldomir never faced a prime Cotto, Williams or Margarito. Faced DLH became a household name, took on Hatton on his terms, fooled Juan Manuel Marquez to have a weight advantage, beat and old Cotto and Mosley, and two blown up Jr.Welterweights. Never fought Pac, where a 50/50 purse was reasonable. The drug test, the lions share, the DRAMA were all tantrums to seek an advantage. In the end, the fight was never made and now is almost useless.

Sooo, did Floyd have the talent to beat all of the fighters he never faced or the ones that weren't in their primes or without any advantage? He probably would have... But the clouds of DOUBT would never end and in the end he may have fooled many but there will always be those he can't fool to easy.

BTW, Canelo has a punchers chance. He could really hurt Floyd but that's only if he could land flush and at this stage it's complicated. Point is Canelo is not ready to face Floyd. He may win some rounds ala Cotto and Guerrero, could probably make it interesting and to a certain point seem like he could win but Floyd will adjust and take it home to another UD.

you have no idea how to put things into context. whatd you do look at boxrec rankings and just rattle off names that mayweather didn't fight? floyd beat guys better than freitas and casamayor anyways.
