      Heya there pal!
Among the traits of many of the great ones is that they never know when to hang 'em up. You could be right. Morales may seek a rematch later this year. Or next year. He may feel the urge after he has licked his wounds. He is a proud warrior. But I don't think facing Pac again can be in his short-term wanna-do and need-to-do lists.

I just visited Pacland and the talk there (dunno how true) is that Erik is contemplating retirement. If that be so, a more tempting offer for him to change his mind is not facing Pac but taking on MAB for Morales-MAB IV. At Lightweight.

With Pac now holding solid claim to challenging Barrera's twin Jr. Light title, I don't think "Baby Face" relishes the thought of facing the Filipino again. He hasn't been heard from, it seems, in the past several hours post-fight, although just days before Jan. 22 his mouthpiece at Golden Boy promo was noisy about a rematch with Pac (a noise that all of a sudden entered the scene, and was delayed for 2 years). And he has a so-called "shelved" date with Chavez at Light.

My take is that with what happened, the MAB- Chavez date will be resurrected (I continue to doubt it was ever aborted) and if he wins, he'll dare Erik to take the Lightweight title from him, seeing that if he takes on somebody else other than Pac or Erik, he can neither fill a quarter of the arena seats nor rack up PPV numbers.

It would be tempting for both MAB and Erik because that would lure Pac to Lightweight--two divisions higher than Pac's his ideal fighting weight--lending MAB a better chance to avenge his defeat and making Erik a bit more comfortable. And, that would leave Pac with but few marquee opposition. JMM, and possibly Barrios, would be the only ones who could roll some thunderous interest beyond die-hard boxing fans in the US (and I'm not talking about lots of Fil-Ams who, knowing next to nothing about the fight game would I think would still go to Pac fights regardless of the opposition. The reverberating "Manny! Manny! Manny!" chant at Thomas & Mack is a sign of huge fan support for Pac in years to come).

Of course, Erik may refuse to accomodate MAB in this fashion and seek out Pac, just to spite MAB--the hatred between the two is well-known.

MAB facing Pac? If he wanted to, he could have done that within the two years just past. I could not come up with any reason why MAB would all of a sudden do now what he refused to do in those two years.

Perhaps, MONEY. A fight with Pac would be his biggest payday in years, possibly, ever. Recent experience shows fighting a Peden, a Fana and a faded Ayala, inspite of MAB's stellar reputation, do not pull-in the crowds. So, MAB NEEDS a big fight-- in caps. But to get that big fight, Pac is not his only option. That Lightweight meeting with Erik can be billed as a fight for the greatest Mexican fighter (they'll both be fighting to earn the distinction of a 4th crown in 4 weight classes). That's a bigger lure for Erik than getting revenge from Pac. Erik seems to like Manny; he hates MAB. He would be on needles and pins if MAB gets a 4th title via Chavez. He'd certainly want some say in that.

Just my random thoughts, buddy! Sorry about my just rambling on and on...

Thanks buddy! Congratulations to You and All Pinoys-- especially those fellas at the Pinoy Lounge!

So, when are the San Migs, "Sisig", "Lechon", "Kinilaw"...etc. etc. going to hit the table?

Re: MAB-Chavez, I'm just guessing that MAB is gonna go in that direction, pal. As to beating Chavez, MAB may find Chavez so uncooperative as to show him a thing or two.

Oh, the plans of mice and men...

Good to see ya, pal! Throw one down the shaft for me when you guys get together for that celebration, will ya? San Mig, of course! What else? Thanks!

EDIT!: Just noticed your sig...NICE! How can she walk? Won't she topple over? Ha! Ha! Ha!

I noticed the post AND the sigs, pal. The latter one a bit late, thus, I had to edit.

14 bottles!!! Oh, boy! Yes, you should be nursing a big one now.

Caught the fight while waiting for my flight at the Mactan International Airport in Cebu. They have sets in the pre-departure lounge of the Mabuhay Class of Philippine Airlines. The place went wild! Even Jap and Korean tourists whooped it up!

I had coffee while the fight was on, then, opted for something stiffer after the TKO (why wasn't it a KO?). So did everyone else that I saw. Got myself a couple of San Mig Super Dries!

              No Talabas however.

I think because it was stopped by the rep, they called it TKO. Maybe the pilot was watching the fight too so you don't have to worry that the plane might while the fight was going on. Damn, i hate drinking beer when i'm about to board a plane because i always feel like pissing. Your flight on time?

I booked for the 830 am, but twas cancelled. Didn't get on the 930 or was that 945 am flight. Decided to take the 3pm. The flight took off 25 minutes late. I didn't mind though.

I tipple some, particularly on trans-pacific and trans-atlantic flights. There's nothing else to do after one has gone through the official papers, newspapers and boxing mags. But yes, peeing is a problem. That, and jet lag, if you had too much aboard flight. So, I restrain myself a bit.

Bayless is a good ref, better than most. But, he should have finished the count. Should have made it a KO. I always think of a TKO in these terms: a fighter who had been down regains his footing but is visibly unable to continue. Or, a fighter, still on his feet, is for all intents and purposes unable to continue (aka, "out on his feet!"). Erik was all fours on the canvass. I think there was no way that he could have taken back his footing. A guy with hands and knees still on the canvass by the tenth count should be declared a KO victim.

It was obvious then (more obvious now what with the news that he had a broken nose and a broken rib and that he stayed prone on the canvass until someone helped him up), that had Bayless continued the count, Erik would still have been there.

Not that I have anything against Erik. As a person, what I know about him through what I have read and heard, can only elicit great respect. As a fighter, there's not enough space on this thread that can accomodate the praises one can heap on him.

It's just that, I think, it should have been called the way it should have been.

Oh well, a TKO of an Erik Morales, is no ordinary feat, either. The first in that great man's career!

Morales beat Pac the first time by a hairline.

Pac DEMOLISHED Erik in Round 2.

I reckon there is No need for Round 3

                      Heya THRILLA, my man!

Those great buddies of ours, Joms and Kadyo: we were just talking about San Migs and kinilaws and sisigs and lechon and oysters (Kadyo says there are two types of "Talaba"--both prone to red tide! The things I learn from these threads!)...

I'm sure ya'll have much of those following that TKO! Especially, kadyo's TALABAS!

Good to see ya ol' pal!
