Al Haymon and GBP sure have a “problem”.

I said it before the fight, this was supposed to be Broner’s first real test. Up until now it had al been filler to build him up into yet another undisputed champ (isn’t it funny how many undefeated champs or “next big thing in boxing” there are all over the place? Hoe can everyone be undefeated? )
So looking for a first fight for Broner in which people actually had heard the name of the opponent before they went with Paulie. Paulie was perfect for Broner. People knew his name, has a well earned rep, and his biggest trait is that in spite of being a respectable boxer he never could kill a butterfly with his punch and he’s a bit past his prime. A perfect victim for Broner, even if some of us correctly assumed that Paulie would be a bit too much for him.
Broner was supposed to make a statement here. He said he was going to KO Paulie which of course he didn’t deliver, but even more of a concern was that he looked downright bad against a fighter that isn’t that great, and presents no KO risk to anyone as his KO record shows.
In his first big fight against a guy that was supposed to be easy money, a sure KO according to Broner and his camp, he failed miserably.
A win is a win, but in boxing it is not that simple. Some wins are shameless steals, others are highly disputed or marginal and a SD usually falls into this later category.
Broner failed. He failed to KO Paulie. He failed to dominate Paulie. He failed to hurt Paulie even after 12 rounds.
The fight that was supposed to be a rising star’s big statement ended up being a fraud and GBP and Haymon know this. Their construction of a new Floyd looks cheap, slow, underpowered and easier to hit than a drunk chick in a frat party. He’s the cheapo, “Made in China” version of Floyd . They are both black, he tries to talk like him, dress like him and do the shoulder roll like him but as soon as you take a half-hearted closer look you see it for what it is: A cheap knockoff.
Now GBP and Haymon are scratching their heads wondering what to do with this investment of theirs. How do you make a mediocre fighter look good when he failed to impress in his real first fight? How do you keep the hype, when the marketing guys are throwing opponent names for consideration and they know well he just cant beat them?

FerFal if GBP can keep Amir Khan's career moving after all the beatings he has taken a win over Paulie is not going to cause them problems. I agree with you though Broner is NOT the the super human superstar we were told he was.

Its going to take some really creative minds to keep this kid undefeated long enough for him to become a 'ppv star'. I just can't see it. He's going to have to switch up his act. Part of his appeal is people 'paying to see him lose' once that happens (almost did twice) a lot of what makes people watch him will be gone. He's going to have to get into some wars and be exciting, win or lose. He's still annoying as all **** but after a while if he loses a couple (depending how he loses) people will lose interest some may even start to feel bad for him.

I have to admit, Broner disappointed me in this fight. He covered up too much and didn't fight enough. My confidence in him has certainly gone down, but I still think he will or can become a much greater fighter.

Youve got a point there. Still, look at Khan. 26 and he's done.
As we know, when a glass chin get broken its over. Khan is the perfecty example of why investing in a guy that doesnt deserve it is a bad idea. I still think Khan had more to offer than Broner though.

In real terms I agree with you 100% although Broner is a lot better than Khan. Khan is done as a credible force at top level but there are enough gullible idiots out there that GBP can tap into and keep the illusion alive. They will protect Khan and will fight Mayweather

                Broner dominated Paulie.

Saying he didn't KO Paulie so it is not impressive, is just you reaching for something...

The kid had a great performance. He landed some nice shots, had great defense, and in general just put up an entertaining bout.

I just want to see what's next for Broner. The kid is building up so much hype, this is great for boxing. Makes 147 so much more fun to watch now.

                  Khan didn't deserve it?

He beat Kotelnik, Mallignaggi, Maidana, and Judah.

He has deserved all his success because he earn't it in the ring. Yes, he was pushed by Golden Boy because his talent warranted it, but his chin sometimes let him down.

And Khan was always hated for much less than Broner. Until Broner was exposed last night, he was being labelled as a p4p great. Khan never received such accolades, at least not to that extent.

When you're hurt by everyone you fight, it's difficult to be protected. Not to mention that Khan will probably fight the world class Devon Alexander in his next match-up.

Kotelnik, Mallignaggi, Maidana, Judah, Peterson, (ducked by Bradley) Garcia - Alexander. Hardly being 'protected'.
