I think GGG is going to be too much for Macklin. KO in the 5th or 6th...

Macklin just isn't a good fighter.

I think that's overstating the case. He's clearly limited at the world class level but he's still pretty solid on that stage. He arguably beat Sturm and Julie Lederman had him three points up heading into the 11th with Sergio.

He's not outstanding by any stretch of the imagination but he's not trash either. Golovkin should beat him, and beat him with a bit to spare, but Macklin could well have his moments. I do think if GGG takes him out with ease it'll be a massive statement.

A hard puncher should take him out though, he got KTFO by Moore. Sturm simply isn't a good fighter either, he has ridden the wave of being robbed against De La Hoya his whole career since then.

To be fair, he was dead on his feet when Moore took him out. He went all out to overwhelm Moore and had no strength left in his body by the time Moore finished him. He punched himself out and then some

He is very hittable alright though, and I think he's too inaccurate in his punching when he goes on the offensive himself to ever clearly beat an elite fighter. But he's improved over the years, and while I can't see him beating Golovkin, it's not totally out of the question that he gets the better of some titleholder someday.

I like Macklin and I think he's gonna give it a real good go, but I also think his power is being overestimated by some people. He certainly wasn't the puncher of the two in the Martinez fight, and to be honest I don't even think he was against Sturm either (who shook him up late in that fight) I'd say he's an average puncher at world level.

He's not crisp enough in his punches to be considered a big hitter. And honestly if he tries to open up against Golovkin he's likely to be put on his ass with counters. It'll be a lot of fun if Macklin trades with 3G, but I seriously doubt he'll be able to take what's coming back.

SMH, Macklin is much better than people seem to credit him as being.

It may a rough and tumble affair for a bit but that Irishman is getting KOed. Macklin is a tough kid but his face is going to get busted up. Macklin says well hes a true strong middleweight so GGG is going to be surprised. Well Sergio is really a 154 lber and not a real middleweight and he stopped Macklin so. Also GGG hits harder than Sergio and is more technically skilled.
