There's no irony. Paulie is in on the joke. He knows, along with everyone else, that he has no power. Broner boasted about hitting him harder than anyone ever before and ending his career.

What? Paulie has a granite chin. Cotto broke his jaw and he kept fighting. He's got one of the best chins at 147. How else could he have that type of punching power and be at this level for so long?

As far as I know Cotto broke his cheekbone not his jaw. Still was impressive for him to take 12 rounds of a beating like that and still fight this good.

Which is why he didn't choose Maidana, Garcia, Matthysee, Peterson, Provo, or Berto. Broner's power is not 147 power. Paulie can't hurt anyone. Broner is already talking about going back down in weight. he wouldn't fight Gamboa down there when he had a chance. Broner is a joke at 147. Had his hands full with an easy to hit, Mags, and would never last with the best at 147. All the trash talking Mags thru out there, and then left his mug out there to get popped all night, and couldn't hurt Broner. Broner have the boner to step in with Maidana, Matthysee or Garcia, he gets knocked out.... Broner will try to lure one of them down, drain them down to '40.

You see it as I do. Paulie has a good chin, but his main ability is not getting hit. When he gets hit flush, he gets hurt. But he doesn't get hit that much because he has the uncanny ability to avoid punches.

From what I saw Broner didn't carry a great deal of pwr up w/ him. Paulie's faced hardly looked marked after eating 50% of AB's pwr shots...got the job done tho. Would like to see him against a formidable foe like maidana, garcia, matthyse...doubt that will happen tho. Seems as tho the Hayman plan is to have all of his fighters control belts in every div. Some sort of Hostile takeover in the sport. AB prolly vacates this belt so another Hayman fighter can pick it up.

Okey, Broner doesn't belong to 147 because he lacks power to hurt the kind og Malignaggi.. but Malignaggi on the other hand doesn't belong to the 147 top dogs by failing to win the kind of Broner who stepped up from LW to WW! Broner is better than Malignaggi esp. in the lower div. but for Malignaggi he isn't better anymore to any divisions!
