Zab beat the "NSB ALL TIME LEGEND" Lucas Matthyse. That should earn him lifetime props on this forum.
On this forum it goes:
1. Sugar Ray Robinson
2. Muhammed Ali
3. Lucas MatthyseComment

No, Canelo fighting Mosley/Lopez was NOT alright. But seeing as how young "stars" have been fighting past-prime/faded opponents for the longest, I guess we have to just accept such a bullshit match-up. I'm tired of old fighters with names getting recycled to be used as stepping stones.Comment

Amateurs mean nothing? Canelo had 20 total amateur fights, Broner went 300-19. That counts for something, Canelo learned as pro, Broner fine tuned. Big difference.
Beat Matthysse? He got a gift. Why shouldn't Broner fight a WW? He just fought a tiny WW with no punch, it's time to take some risk.Comment

You make a small point with the amateur arguement; however, it is null and void when you take into consideration the vast difference between amateur boxing and pro boxing.Amateurs mean nothing? No head gear. Glove size. Different point system. Age difference of boxers.
So like I said, who was Canelo fighting in his 27th pro fight? Now compare that guy to Paulie Malinaggi.
And regarding Broner fighting a JWW... his last fight before tonite was at 135. Tonite was the first time the kid went 12 rounds. Why throw him to the sharks already?
It took Canelo 50 something pro fights to be considered ready to fight a 36 year old Floyd Mayweather. Some still feel Canelo is too green.Comment
