plenty of fighters look good pressuring. that broner couldn't shows his limits.

he doesn't throw a ton of punches. he doesn't jab enough. he covered up much more than countering. he took the first 3-4 rounds to get going, giving rounds to paulie flippin maglinaggi in the process.

it was not a good look for him. that fight was reasonably close. pablo cesar cano didn't do a whole lot worse than broner did against malignaggi. he's going to be much less than i thought he'd be. 147 is exposing him already, and he's only fought paulie flipping malignaggi.



i'm changing my pic in the matthysse fight, too. i think matthysse beats broner. he looked a lot worse against a larger opponent.

You're expecting way too much from a 23 year old that just moved up 2 weight classes. Nobody looks good after jumping 2 weight classes, to win a title doing it is a rare feat.

The fighter going backwards has all the advantages that's the bottom line. That's why fighters don't usually chase unless they have to or know they can win that way. Not only that, but malignaggi also had a clear size advantage.

Broner is not a welterweight. He's too small. But he still beat a welterweight champion.

Broner beat Paulie 115 to 113 but looked awful doing it. Paulie has no punching power and looked like he was playing patty cake with his punches all night.

Depends on who you ask. If the tables were turned, Broner being in Paulie's shoes, Brotards would argue their idol landed more points. You know the story.
It was clear that Paulie DID land more punches.

I'd love to believe that those saying Malignaggi were all trolling or simply dislike Broner to such a degree that they're incapable of thinking in a rational manner, but so many boxing fans today have been programmed into believing that volume in punches count above all else.

I don't see how anyone could score it for Paulie, and I was rooting for him. I had it 116-112.
