  • Comments Thread For: Garcia Ends Lopez?: BoxingScene Review, Ratings Update

Sometimes, it’s just not there anymore.

Juan Manuel Lopez might have lost to Mikey Garcia on the best day of his career. His flaws as a fighter have been dramatically apparent since at least an unexpected war with Rogers Mtagwa. That said, there is a difference between flawed and finished.

Lopez appeared the latter on Saturday.

Let’s go to the report card. [Click Here To Read More]

@ 1st thought it was Josesito, but no matter. both are @ the end...both w/no defense, but JML doesn't have the best chin & goes down fairly ezy...2 many ezt opponents inflated his record & talent...josesito ,unfortunately has the ability 2 absorb the punches, not good in the long run & 4 an xtended life...I wish them both luck & they have the sense to stop...Game Over...

Lopez isn't chinny. They weren't arm shots that put him down. He walked through some insane shots against Salido and Garcia was teeing off.

It's like people calling Khan chinny. None of the knock downs in his career were from weak or glancing shots either. Again, he walked through some insane stuff against Maidana, Garcia.

The problem with both guys is poor schooling and bad defensive habits. Garcia couldn't miss. His jab landed flush almost with certainty. Lopez marauds forward, head straight up, chin on display, usually coming in straight lines - ideal for countering. Garcia made it look easy, but Lopez was there to be hit from the opening bell. When you can't miss, a [T]KO is inevitable.

Are you serious that Khan isn't chinny? This guy has had chin problems since before he was even fighting good fighters. He tasted canvas multiple times even before Breidis Prescott dropped him twice. Then he fought either overmatched opponent or guys with no punch until he fought Maidana who would have KO'd him had anyone but Joe Cotez been the ref. Then he was dropped 3 times by Danny Garcia and dropped again against light punching Julio Diaz and also wobbled and badly hurt in multiple other rounds by him. By no means am I saying Khan isn't a good fighter, if he had a good chin I think he would be almost unstoppable bc his skill are undeniable, but come on you've got to be kidding saying he isn't chinny. The guy is a world champion fighter who's been down something like 9 times in his career, thats something a journeyman does.
