I like the way Sergio carries himself and hope he can come back but I think the injuries ,time off, and his age will leave him less Mobil and a shell of his former self

people must be forgetting that Martinez fought in the RAIN and 2 or 3 hours before he was supposed to fight. add that to be injuried and it's a miracle he didn't get stopped.

saying all that Martinez is ripe for Cotto who wants to go out as middleweight champ. I think it's a close fight now considering Martinez's age and injuries.

as for the WBC, they won't do a thing. if Martinez kicks them some money they'll shut up. plus what's a bigger money fight Martinez vs Cotto or Rubio keeping the belt warm for Canelo when he moves up?

the WBC is about making money, they won't strip Martinez this time especially with a Cotto fight looming

I am not so excited in a Martinez-Cotto match but I am anticipating Martinez's return. The inactivity isn't the best thing for a fighter/champion but with age comes injuries and injuries require healing time.

you do know Martinez vs Cotto is a PPV fight at least 500k buys. it'd be big with latinos. Martinez vs GGG might be better but it wouldn't even touch that.

his knee operation and his training camp were both in Spain. Also he has a spaniard as a personal doctor.

                    I didn't know...
Martinez undertook knee surgery on Nov 12 2012... By then it was stated that IF EVERYTHING GOES WELL Sergio would fight Murray in April 27 2013... But even if EVERYTHING WENT WRONG Martinez still fought Murray in that rainy night with the following outcome: a right knee injury, a broken left hand ("left hand carpal large bone compression fracture")...
"He was never fully recovered from the knee surgery," said DiBella, noting that the injury made it very hard for Martinez to plant his feet. "The knee was OK early in the training camp but it wasn't perfect. But with three weeks left in camp, it got much worse. He probably would have postponed the fight if was in a normal arena. He was damaged goods going in against Murray."

Argentinians or Spaniards, Sergio's doctors did a very poor job...
Such a big athlete should have got the best medical treatment and recovery program...

I am a huge fan of Martinez, but I think he will get beat soundly in his next fight. He looked like his age and the injuries had finally got the best of him in his last fight. Hope I'm wrong.
