He mentions March or April of next year. That gives time for Cotto to do a tune up this september.

I read this some where else but didn't really believe it. Is the proposed fight for this year because I thought Sergio was shutting it down for the rest of the year? Cotto doesn't know his own limitations. He cant compete at 160. He can barely compete at 154.

that's a long way away, but it's still a fight i'd want to see. two of the "very good" fighters of the last 10 years.

Thanks for the info. That would help. 157 would be reasonable for both. Have to respect Cotto for seeking out the toughest fights. I wish he could still make 147 though. There he could better utilize his skill set imo.

Win or lose I think Martinez should retire after this fight. He will make a good amount of money if this fight happens.

I already pointed this out months ago. Cotto wants that 4th division title. And the way Martine looked vs Murray, I think Cotto has a chance to stop him. Martinez legs are gone, Cotto is gona kill him to the the body!!

Either way, is Cotto wins that fight prepare for Mayweather-Cotto 2 for the MW crown!

This is one of the two best megafights that Cotto could have at this point. The other one would be against JMM. Both would be very interesting and would be good, high quality matchups.

With that being said, I think the choosing of the September 28 opponent is way too delayed because weeks keep passing and Cotto still has not made an announcement. JMM, Pacquiao, and Mayweather all fought after Cotto and already have their next fights lined up. It almost seems like he is not fighting this year after all.

If it's at a low enough catchweight, 156 or 157 I'll say, I'll pick Cotto to win.

                    If it's at 160, I'll pick Sergio.
