Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has advised former champion Mikey Garcia (31-0, 27 KOs) to forget about the featherweight division and look full steam ahead at gaining a title at 130-pounds. Arum would like to see Garcia face WBO super featherweight champion Roman "Rocky" Martinez (27-1-2, 16KOs).
BoxingScene.com reported on Sunday that Garcia vs. Martinez is being discussed for a September date. Last Friday Garcia lost his WBO title at 126 after failing to make weight. He was two pounds over, but easily knocked out Juan Manuel Lopez in four rounds the following night in Dallas, Texas.
