Santa Cruz is a terrific body puncher, it's like clock-work for him. What he lacks in power, he makes up for with consistency and technique.

      The question should be:

Why did Miguel Cotto abandon his body work?

Has not been seen since he stopped Foreman.

Even before then it had dropped off. Since the Gomez fight, it's gone down. He headhunted Margarito so much in that first fight, a little more body work couldn't have hurt. Now when he throws left hook to the body, it's a big deal. That used to be half his output in a round.

It seemed to almost correspond with when he let Evangelista go. I understand the camps weren't the best, but picking Joe Santiago was not the way to go. Screwed his technique up terribly for Clottey and Pacquiao. Steward helped him out, but it's never really been the same.

Best body puncher going today is Cinnamon Alvarez. Santa Cruz is second, imo.

Ginger has short and compact arms. He rarely over punches his target. His body shots look vicous and painful. He has solid footwork and he's always in position to land his little short body shots.

It'll take a Floyd Mayweather to make that kid look normal.

Lucian Bute is BY FAR the best body puncher in the world right and has been for several years
