Hopefully it turns to nothing more than a missing complaint... This is controversial, but I don't believe anyone should go to jail, except for rapist, child ******ors, serial killers etc.

Saw Kirkland in Vegas for the Floyd-Ghost fight and he seriously was so cool and down to Earth. He looked in good shape, good spirits, and seemed really matured. Was very open and took pics with us. So sad to see this. You can tell he's a good guy who is just in the wrong environment

Would be interesting to know why he wants nothing to do with his former trainers and promoters, you'd think that would be unlikely when they are your only road to decent $$$.

James Kirkland, a prominent Austin boxer was arrested for assaulting a family member Saturday, according to jail records. Public records reveal the 29-year-old boxer has a history with police. In 2003 Kirkland was arrested for driving on a suspended license. In May of 2004 he was sentenced in a forgery case. In 2005 he was sentenced to 270 days in jail for burglary of a vehicle, 60 additional days were added on for evading arrest and another 120 days for criminal mischief. He served six months in jail and another six months under house arrest.
The boxer returned to the ring in 2007, vowing to turn his life around. In 2009 he signed on to the roster with Golden Boy Promotions. Kirkland was slated to fight in the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton HBO PPV card on May 2 of 2009 in Las Vegas but was arrested a few weeks before the fight. In July of 2009 Kirkland pleaded guilty to charges of gun possession by a convicted felon. He was sentenced in September of the same year to serve a 2-year prison term which he served in the Federal Correction Facility in Bastrop, Texas.

Could be something minor but given his history u can't take it lightly. Smh it's still sad though.

Well... Anyone who had their hopes up to see Kirkland again might as well give it up.

Never been a fan but sucks to see someone ruin their career like this guy has.

almost certain he was. that gun charge got him about 2-3 years probation, at the least.

At this time last year, James Kirkland was mulling over a career-high payday to face Canelo on Sept 15th, 2012..... #boxing
