BoxingScene.com was on hand for one of Gennady Golovkin's recent sparring sessions as he prepares for his June 29th showdown against Mathew Macklin. Golovkin has held his recent training camps up in the high altitude of Big Bear, CA at his trainer Abel Sanchez's facility called The Summit. He said that everything has gone smoothly.

"My training camp has been fantastic. I have had a great time. I've had great sparring and everything is going well. My guys have helped me. Every two rounds we like to change them up so that we can have a fresh guy with a different style," Golovkin stated.

Martinez isn't an internet fanboy. I doubt he's as impressed with Golovkin as the kiddies are. This is a fight that needs to happen and I'm sure he and HBO will oblige. We'll see this before he checks out IMO.
