  • Comments Thread For: Rubio vs. Ma***ski For Interim WBC Title is Likely

It now appears that Patrick Ma***ski (21-1, 13 KOs) of Poland will likely face Mexico's Marco Antonio Rubio (57-6-1, 49 KOs) for the vacant WBC interim-middleweight title. WBC full champion Sergio Martinez suffered several injuries in April's victory over Martin Murray and probably won't return until 2014. After pushing the issue through arbitration, Rubio was made the mandatory challenger to Martinez's title. Rubio has been fighting to have belt become vacant or at the very least have the interim title at stake in his next fight.

I was kinda hoping Martin Murray would be inthe mix to get a shot at the intern belt after a great performance against Martinez, but guess not

Im pretty sure Rubio has to get a shot at it because he sued the WBC and won and this was the fall out

Ma***ski is totally unproven and lost badly to Jose Miguel Torres in his last significant fight. I didn't know Rubio's lawsuit win required that he be handed the title without a fight. That's basically what is happening here. There are at the very least 50 middleweights more deserving than Ma***ski.

Murray is still listed as WBA interim champ. He probably can't fight for another vacant belt.

Ma***ski was ranked 10th by the WBC last time I saw the rankings. I guess none of the fighters ranked ahead of him wanted to fight the mighty Rubio. Classic World's Biggest Crooks (WBC) stuff

Yeah, and that ranking is a joke to begin with. He's lucky if he's one of the top 10 Polish fighters, let alone top 10 in the world. Okay, so he's probably easily top 10 among Poles, but you get the idea.
