Comments Thread For: Linares Eyes Possible July 19 Return, Wants Title Shot

Jorge Linares had a tough set back when he lost back to back fights against Antonio DeMarco in 2011 and Sergio Thompson last year. The Venezuelan has been quietly on the comeback trail as he’s scored two victories since and is hoping to get back in the mix in before the end of this year.

BoxingScene caught up Linares who informed he could possibly be fighting July 19th in Las Vegas although nothing has been finalized.

“They are talking about fighting July 19th in Las Vegas but they are also talking about a world title shot but nothing is confirmed. We are waiting on Golden Boy to confirm the date and where the fight will be and with who. So in the meantime we are working strong every day with no missteps in order to wait to get a big opportunity” informed Linares. [Click Here To Read More]

I heard he was a potential opponent for Ricky Burns. I'd fancy Linares in that fight

Linares looked good in his last fight. I like Salas as his trainer. Gave him the right advice in the corner during the rds. They might continue to improve together. Hope Linares gets another crack at it.

I've been watching Burns since he upset Graham Earl & still have no clue how good he actually is. His style has morphed recently and he now reminds me of Steve Collins - who also changed from a boxer to slugger later in his career.

As for Linares, I was at the bout against DeMarco & thought he look good in spurts but fragile. I'm not sure if he'll make it back to the top but it will be fun watching.

I've picked against Burns in so many fights but he keeps proving me wrong lol. Linares is like Khan in a way, he struggles against punchers and pressure guys. Burns is neither really.

I dunno. He's turning into a pressure fighter. He was rusty at first last time out but once he found his rhythm he started pouring it on.

He needs to fight twice more this year.

By the way, do you reckon Arsenal will do well this year. Man U & Chelsea have a new manager & Chelsea fans seem to have forgotten that the Special One went off the boil in his last season with Chelsea.
