Lara has the tools to be elite (good power, speed, and movement; solid defense but lazy at times). He just hasn't put it all together. He is a solid contender but how many eliminators are they going to make him fight. The Canelo fight should have happened already. He definitely has my respect. He's fought a lot of the most avoided fighters at 154lbs (Angulo, Vanes, Molina, P Will) with no reward yet. Most of the other top guys at 154 have really thin resumes.

I was impressed with his poise and sharp punching. Not the smartest defense at times. Shelling up and waiting for Angulo to finish. But he wouldn't have issues like that vs Canelo.

Canelo lacks the killer/pressure mentality needed.

His inside game was severely exposed, which I why I favor Molina even more in a rematch. Overall, I think he lost a bit of his unbeatable aura, but I still favor him big time over everyone at 154 except Molina.

I was impressed from the very first round. He showed his dominating style in the beginning, then the composure to handle himself better than most when he got knocked down and hurt on numerous occasions. Great left hand, counters and footwork to get our of danger.

I gave him two thumbs up

Like in chess I want the Bobby Fisher types of players. They make the game very interesting to follow.

Lara types of fighters only look good with the Angulo type of fighters. Anything else is a guaranteed snoozer. (Well, if you want to bash casual fans for not rooting for those kinds of fights, do so. But don't effing complain when they're not making money off of it, thus becoming rare to see.) Look at the Hopkins-Charlo undercard. Who would want to see another boring fight like that?

I was never that high on Lara myself, but he won me over as a fan with his grit and poise under fire. Landy's ability looks about the same to me, but, in reality, he went up a notch in my book. To paraphrase Cus D'Amato, "Boxing is more about will than about skill." Lara showed he has the will to be a champion.

Extremely impressed with Lara. Great boxer and technician. He gives anyone a problem at 154. I think he loses his focus at times and that could be his downfall. But as of now, he is top 3 at 154 in my opinion. Hope he gets rewarded for his victory with a big name opponent.
