How good is Lamont Peterson.... really?

Peterson got a lot of notoriety because he apparently gave Floyd Mayweather some good work once upon a time....

Then he got his ass whooped by feather fisted Tim Bradley, got whooped by Victor Ortiz.... and just about sc****d by Glass Jaw King Khan't eventhough he was on more testosterone than a pro body builder....

Then he comes off a suspension and fights Kendall Holt, who's nowhere near elite....

and from that.... all of sudden Mathysse beating him, makes Mathysse the best 140lber out there???

because of Peterson? atleast if it was Peterson fully-juiced.... I'm not buying it....

I'm the same guy that called people out on hyping Lamont's win over Holt, but not giving Danny credit for beating Holt.

With that being said, NO ONE has abused Lamont the way Matthysse did.

he's a B fighter, above average but not elite
there's good fighters he can beat
but the best guys in his weight range will handle him
he didn't deserve the Khan win
and he drew with Ortiz because Ortiz choked

Its really the matter in which Matthysse disposed of Peterson. I think Peterson is a solid fighter and he is tough/durable as well. Lucas blew through him with ease. No one else has done that and Peterson has fought some of the best guys at 140lbs (Bradley, Ortiz and Khan).

He fought Bradley hard, he overcame a rough start to earn a draw against Ortiz, and he beat Khan. He's not special in any way, but he's tough, adaptable, and proven at a world class level.

And Matthysse slaughtered him in ridiculously easy fashion.

Damn the fight was a month ago and just now we're finding our way to discrediting Lucas? Lucas disposed of PEDerson in a fashion Ortiz couldn't do. And Ortiz is a guy who comes in as a JMW too.

Yep. I remember watching that fight, and RJJ kept saying Ortiz has the definite advantage because he's a puncher and he's much heavier than Lamont on fight night.

Even when Ortiz dropped him he was never hurt, he only got stunned in the late rounds against Ortiz, stunned a few times against Bradley but never really hurt. The only times he's been hurt was against Khan, it was a weird looking right hand that did it but he overcame and won. Matthysse had him the most hurt he's ever been.

Most objective boxing fans felt Matthysse was the man in the division before he destroyed Peterson.

In answer to your question, Peterson is not particularly good.

Funny thing is, the people that were predicting Matthysse by KO/TKO, and saying Matthysse was definitely going to beat Peterson were labeled as nut huggers/stans/overhyping Matthysse.
