Good to know it wasn't too serious. Angulo showed he's still a top 154lb fighter. His defense is still awful, but it was good to see him in his old form. Just another tough break. First it was his visa issues that kept him inactive, then the ko loss to Kirkland followed by him being locked up by ICE. Now his loss to Lara in a fight that to me looked like the momentum was going his way. He's bounced back before, hopefully he can do it again.
I'd like to see him fight Kirkland and the end of the year if both are healed and ready. I think he beats Kirkland and would've beat Kirkland the first time but he got reckless after the kd and punched himself out.

LOL if they can't tell the difference between a left and right how can we ever make them understand that thumbless gloves still have thumbs;-)
People should understand that even in a thumbless glove it's still possible to use the thumb side to inflict damage. I, like other people, saw one of the punches of Lara appeared to be landing using the thumb side (but let's not ignore that the area was already sustaining damage for continuous trauma). The other aspect is to see if Lara did it on purpose and it appears to me that it was not the case and by the way Angulo is not accusing Lara of using it as a dirty tactic. Angulo is just stating that when he felt the "stinging" contact he lost vision and almost unconsciously walked away (maybe trying to protect the damaged area) and ignored totally when the referee came close to him. I am glad Alfredo didn't suffer any broken bone but I believe he has lost a step after the year he lost in his career following his incarceration due to migration problems. He even had lots a problems with a limited boxer named Silva and that was probably the reason many posters forecasted an easy lopsided win for Lara although in reality it was a very difficult victory for the cuban boxer but thanks to that we the boxing fans benefited from it.

So a thumb in the eye (from a thumbless glove of course) is going to cause a huge deformed hematoma so inflate up immediately? Quit making excuses for Angulo man. As tough as he is, he quit, there is no way around it. Whether he quit because of thumbed eye, he was gassed, he was hurt, whatever...he QUIT. Stop defending him. It was his choice to quit and hey live to fight another day but guess what? He now have to live with the consequences of his choice, just like Ortiz and Cotto have. Lara was the one who showed more heart and mettle so deal with it. I have nothing against Angulo but he is burying and embarrassing himself with continuing with this thumbed eye story.

How do you thumb a fighter when they're thumbless gloves AND the replay clearly shows it was just a great, legal punch? And besides, Lara said Angulo was losing his power last few rounds. So, no, Angulo was not gonna KO Lara if it had continued. Bring on Trout for Lara and a (yet another) tomato can for Angulo to start over again with.

Great news for Perro. Hope that he lets it heal fully and doesn't come back too soon. Maybe we'll get to see him on a big card in December or January.
