Comments Thread For: Richard Abril is Ready, Eager To Unify With Ricky Burns

Cuba's Richard "El Tigre" Abril (18-3-1, 8KOs), the WBA's lightweight world champion and Scottish boxer Ricky Burns (36-2, 11 KO's) the current WBO lightweight titleholder could face each other in a unification bout. Both fighters expressed their desire for the fight on Twitter, according to Abril's promoter Mr. Carlos Rodriguez from Miami.

Rodriguez added - "We are ready to match Richard Abril against Burns. We have received some messages from Burns' manager and hopefully we reach an agreement that satisfies both sides. Let’s make this fight to determine which of the two is the best."

Burns is a warrior no doubt, but Abril schools him.

I wouldn't count Burns out just yet. Abril waxed the floor with Rios, but Rios is a brawler. I think Burns looked like **** against Gonzalez. I don't expect the same against Abril though. We'll see.

I think Abril wins this. He is not gonna get tired and quit like Burns' last opponent.

I rather see Gamboa vs Burns. This match up would be pretty interesting.

Good fight. Burns better be ready, Abril doesn't sprain wrists easily.

                LOL

Anyways, if the fight happens, this is an excellent fight between two world class boxers. Ricky Burns had a very poor performance vs. Chelo, probably the worst I've ever seen him. Abril handled Bogere rather easily.

But I'm going with my guy Abril. Burns never faced this style before. They don't have this style of boxing where he's from.
