I agree with the post! They shouldn't be hard to promote at all. Aside from the fact that Rigo and Lara don't speak english, I don't feel that there fighting styles are that much different than Mayweather (The richest boxer ever). I'll go out on the limb here and say that Mayweather is the Greatest Salesman of all time in boxing, but he fights very much like a Cuban. Which isn't a bad thing at all btw. He's 44-0 Sweet Science. I majored in marketing in college, and I would sell them the same way Money May sells himself: Boxing's Rubix Cube. 44 have tried to crack the code, 44 have failed. Rigo is like a professor in the ring, Lara may have actually helped his stock by being dropped twice by Angulo, maybe Cotto feels he may be able to the same.

mayweather is nowhere are boring as those two
although lara seems much better off since the grit that angulo brought with him, but vs vanes the fight was truely awful
and rigondeaux when faced with a counter-puncher will just turn off, 2 punches a round is lame

they aren't exciting, people see their fights and aren going to want to waste their hard earned cash
some of these guys still think like amatuers, you're not a true pro until you can attract, whether it be via bad mouthin people, engaging backstory or just in-ring action

Bob Arum essentially made stereotypical remarks that 'White' Cubans were not into boxing and they mainly followed baseball, and that since most Cuban boxers are black that there wouldn't much of an audience. If someone remembers the exact quote they can post it here, or simply google it.

I know Arum did get some slack for it, and some black cubans actually agreed with it. I wouldn't fit into the Arum stereotype as my natural color is Ricky Hatton white (before the Florida sun) and my dad is Cuban. Yet i given plenty of money supporting Arum events both in person and PPV.

Homie is right. If anything, the language barrier is the biggest issue. Please don't sit here and say Mayweather become the PPV king based on his style. His level of bore is on par if not WORSE than Rigo and Lara. Need data? How about this.

          Lara KO % = 61%
          Rigo KO% = 66%
          Mayweather KO% = 59%

When is the last time Mayweather did the damage to an opponent Lara did to Angulo or Rigo to Donaire?

This good post... nice stat to throw in there as well. All three are entertaining to me, but to the casual fan, not so much. I think the real issue here is that Rigo and Lara's promoters don't see the same money being made as say a Donaire or Canelo and they both know that Rigo and Lara have their respective divisions ruled... or in their eyes, held hostage.

Mayweather can - and does - fight on the inside, he has an iron chin (never been dropped by bum ass fighters) doesn't run anywhere near as much as boring ass fighters, he's beaten every type of fighter at an A+ level and he's an entertainer outside of the ring.

Nobody can say the same thing about Lara/Rigondeaux/Typical Cubastan boxers.

I love Mayweather, Rigo and Lara. I love to see guys who can beat up dudes and walk away virtually unscathed. That is highly entertaining to me. But I am just being objective. Mayweather is not that far off from Rigo and Lara.

Lara really impressed me Saturday. He showed he had a great chin. And honestly, I think he only got caught out of being mentally tired. He was pulling back and away with his hands down when he got caught. Those are mistakes that people make when they get mentally tired and Angulo was pressuring the hell out of him. That's why boxers need to be able to dig in and crack to get guys like Angulo off of them or out of there and Lara showed he could do that.

what don't people understand? they fight in a boring style. is it effective? yes. does it win fights? sure. it's it boring? Fu.ck yeah!

sweet pea was a better defensive boxer than these 3 guys, but sweet pea threw a lot more punches than these guys. you don't have to be defensive and boring.
