Open question for Iceman John Scully: What do you think about Dawson-Stevenson?

Question for Mr. Iceman (for an open discussion): First of all, how are you, Sir?
I am sure you saw the fight Chad Dawson vs Stevenson from last weekend when your former fighter got surprised in the first round. I personally don't know what to think of it. Could be a lucky punch, on the other hand it wasn't like Dawson was dominating the (short) fight before the Knockout.
A part of me thinks Dawson can win a decision in a rematch and another part of me thinks the same I thought after watching Antonio DeMarco vs John Molina Jr: that if a fighter can find that big knockout punch so fast in the first round, he would most likely find it again in a rematch.

    Your thoughts, Mr. Scully?

PS: I hope Dawson can come back, there are certain fighters that I just like because they can throw such fluid combinations: Chad Dawson is one of them. (In MMA Forrest Griffin was my guy when it comes to fluid combos/kicks.)

I read an interview with Ice on another site...

Gist of it was he knew Dawson was damaged goods after the Ward fight and talked about how he was 173 coming into camp and then was at 175 days before the fight and how hard it was to actually make weight.

Ice said in there he thought Stevenson was a terrible choice of opponent and that Adonis' power is not a secret to those inside boxing.

My favorite part of it though was when Ice said he would never train Dawson again in a million years.

Apparently he is harder to work with than Val Kilmer.

The interview is online, anybody can see it. What's the big deal? If you didn't want people to participate in the thread you should've PMed him.

90% of the people on here knew Dawson was finished.

Anyways, I did send Iceman a PM and told him that I made this thread so other people can participate or ask him questions (if he wants to).
You are right, it doesn't matter if the guy mentioned another interview (I have never read that interview though).
And of course everybody should participate if he wants to.
And furthermore I don't think Dawson is or was finished.

No disrespect but I think you might be in denial. The same way I am about Pacman.

Big difference is, Dawson has always shown a weak chin and is mentally weak as well.

He committed suicide when he agreed to go down in weight to fight Ward.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Dawson physically.

Problem is your are right about his mental weakness. Right now he is completely devoid of confidence and it hurts him a lot more than it would most other fighters.

His performance in the fight with Pascal was actually worse imo than what he did against Ward and Stevenson. He showed a real lack of confidence and it has reared it's ugly head time and time again since then.

Well, at this point I wouldn't say he's 100% physically either.

Before there was certainly wrong with him, the guy is a freak. I mean, you saw him make 168 and still looked perfectly fine (at the weigh ins not on fight night).

But now you gotta take in account the beating he took vs Ward (and he's taken some shots before as well) and now the KO vs Stevenson.

Dawson's first mistake was leaving Mayweather, second mistake was going down for Ward and last mistake was him leaving Scully. He's just constantly making bad choices. I really liked Dawson but he's a frustrating fighter to be a fan of.
