I think Beristain would be a good fit to Matthysse's style and could possibly elevate him to a higher level.

A lot of Matthysse's strength comes from his lifestyle and training, and make no mistake he trains a lot. According to his trainer he spends half day training and the other half sleeping.
While others worry about surrounding themselves with strippers or wearing ugly ass t-shirts and gay looking white framed glasses ( lets not mention any names) Matthysse is living alone with his dogs, running, hunting, eating iguanas, doing tatoos but most of all focusing 24/7 on beating the crap out of his next opponent.

Matthysse doesn't strike me as the frivolous type, and I think that's the kind of mind-frame that's allowed him to bounce back after his controversial losses. I don't know anything about his trainer, but judging by how LM is performing in the ring, it's clear that they have a great thing going. Every great trainer has that one fighter that they're associated with, and once LM hits a new plateau, I think we'll start hearing more about his trainer.

If Lucas were to train with Nacho you might see some subtle improvements but nothing major. Matthysse is 30 already and is he fighter he will always be as far as style goes. But IMO he has improved since his fights with Judah and Alexander.

I don't think Garcia has improved Maidana much, he uses his jab a little more early in fights but have way through he looks the same old Chino. I think Garcia is overrated as a trainer. He didn't have any sir of game plan or advice for Donaire and Rios in their last fights. And Maidana looked just like he did against Soto Karass. Not the good.

for people who can't see the improvements in marcos maidana: he is much more selective with his punches, throws straight CRISP punches and everything comes off behind the jab. does this sound like the maidana at 140?

It seems like it would do him some good, but everything right now is clicking on all cylinders. They're doing a great job.

I think Nacho is the type of coach he need, although his current coach is good

It wouldn´t work,Nacho´s school of boxing is better suited for boxers, not brawlers, look at what happened when he trained Angulo.

Matthysse is walking the line between boxer and brawler. Although he is a pressure fighter, he doesn't have the weaknesses typically associated with this style. Matthysse is undoubtedly a better fighter than Angulo.

yes cuty is a good trainer, but I do not say to expel cuty, I speak of adding Nacho.
Nacho can teach good combinations and speed
