don't know if golden boy forced top rank to go the asia route or if it was scum bag bob's own selfish greed that has put top rank in the position they're in, but if asia is such a great market why didn't they take advantage of it a few years back when pacqiuao was arguably one of the hottest athletes on the planet.

I don't know how Arum will get this guy to last.
He'll fight bums, win a vacant title, than continue to fight bums. Probably cash out in a mega fight, lose and then retire. I am calling it just like this.

golden boy would be idiots not to try and expand to the asian market..considering how fast growing the chinese economy is and how big singapore is right now, etc...

Pac only just became big in the US after DelaHoya. You really think they would skip earning 700/1 Mil PPV's?

TR are trying to build the Chinese Gold medalist under Pac now. Much like GB use Mayweather to help promote their own boxers on his shows. Pac's career is over pretty much so they will use him to build others.

Plus the Chinese market has become huge that even Apple are trying hard to break into it...

Why is this? because a large portion of China is still very rural. You have been fooled into believing China is a model of economic efficiency which is just not the case.

china has a HUGE middle class..and it's only growing.

China’s urban middle-class population alone, if considered as a country, is larger than the entire U.S. total population today.
by 2022, China’s middle class should number 630 million
de la hoya can stay in the US and make okay profits or he can try and expand his reach internationally like arum is doing and make a boat load of money...

UH...NO OSCAR! GBP is doing great with Showtime right now but lets not get crazy.

Clearly the success Arum and Top Rank had with the Zou Shiming event is what made Arum quickly do another event in China, plus I think Pacquiao is probably frustrated with the Taxes in the US and I don't blame him

Arum don't even give a crap about GBP. TR is on a league of its own especially when HBO is on its side. So far, things are looking good after the first successful stint in the Chinese market. Not to mention the casual-friendly fights they've put out that turned FOTY.

TR is doing great. HBO is stable. SHO is cash-strapped.

No doubt China is growing but per the same article they state those 630 mil will have 3.4 trilllion dollars of buying power and they estimate in that year their gdp will be 13 trillion.

the current US gdp is 16 trillion and should easily clear 22 trillion in the next decade, which still would make the American market numero uno when it comes to buying power and with are willingness to go into debt to buy the things we want its even greater.

But again the article makes it clear that moving into Asia is not a bad idea.

Well on second thought I think this article may be conservative in its estimates China may very well surpass us in the next decade.

No matter how much money there is to go around. No matter how large a middle class population is, the bigger issue is the market. If boxing isn't big in China, if they can't put a55es in seats than the rest is irrelevant.

Is the potential there? It may be at some point in the future.

Bob is double dipping big time. The show may be in a different country and time zone but it's catered to the US Market if they are going to present it live on our Prime Time. He is avoiding taxes and has been very public about it.
