Josesito Lopez came up short in his fight against Marcos Maidana as he was stopped late in the 6th round of an entertaining fight. After landing and hurting Maidana earlier in the contest, it was Lopez who would go down in the 6th round and was stopped on his feet as the referee called a stop to the action. While Lopez gave Maidana his proper credit, he felt the fight was stopped prematurely.

well, he might be right about that but it would have only delayed the inevitable outcome for a little while -- the tide of the fight had definitely turned against him at that point and there was now way Lopez was going to be able to go much further....

Once Maidana adjusted after Garcia's instructions, it was all over. Maidana would stick his left hand out, blocking Lopez's line of vision all the while closing the gap between the two and getting the overhand right to land. Lopez couldn't do a thing about it. Maidana is limited but it's damn impressive how he continues to deal with adversity, gotta love the dude.

The results from Lopez's CT scan must not be in yet but one thing for sure is that he's obviously got a concussion or something because that was a good stoppage I was literally yelling "Hold, Hold!" at the tv before it was stopped and It was apparent that Lopez could not and really wasn't even defending himself and Maidana was loading up on another big right just before the ref stepped in...he was finished

Yea.. Maidana pretty much was in control most of the fight, Lopez had a big rally in the mid rounds that surprised everyone because it looked like he was getting ready to fold, but after the burst of energy Lopez gathered faded he was pretty much finished and everyone knows Maidana will finish you If you slow down..

What are you talking about it was an even fight. Lopez was in trouble but he wasnt finished. Whats done is done but with all the swings in that fight I would be a little upset too.

I would have rather seen Josesito go down again and then maybe. Don't wanna seem mad brutal minded or nothing but he deserved a little more.

He spent like 20 seconds covering up and doing nothing but eat right hands. What exactly is the ref supposed to do?

Lopez got stopped, and no it wasn't close... He hurt Maidana one time other then that Maidana was winning on jabs alone and would have won a decision based on that down the stretch either way.. Lopez basically had to KO maidana to win don't forget the KD
