What do you think of Maidana's improvements?

I am very impressed of the new Maidana, Garcia did a great job with him. His punches look sharper, uses the jab, head movement, defense, he's new and improved. Before the Lopez stoppage, he pulled away from a right and countered with a big uppercut, I never imagined Maidana doing anything like that. To be fair, he hasn't showcased his new skills against a top technician but I like what I'm seeing.

Once he fights someone half skilled they will easily negate his technical improvements

Also they aren't really improvements per se, he's always had an alright jab and head movement he just often chose not to use them instead barrelling in looking for power shots, and as I say when he fights a half skilled fighter and his jab doesn't land he'll revert to form

What I saw was a basic, crude guy. Nothing special. I think the ref stopped it too early. And, round three should have been 10-8, in favor of Lopez. There should be a rematch.

Maidana looked better in his last fight than this 1, I thought Lopez looked like he would stop him after seeing rounds 3 and 4 but in 5 and 6 he must've been tired be cause he stopped swinging, but anytime maidana fights a ****er like Lopez all
the technical boxing skills he's learning is goin out the window

He looks extremely vulnerable in my eyes. If you can keep him on the back foot he's very easy to hurt.

Unfortunately Lopez isn't strong enough to keep a fighter like Maidana subdued for too long. Garcia would probably stop Maidana in the mid-rounds.

I think Maidanas fitness was the deciding factor. His body had definition and he lost that baby fat. You can take big shots, like the ones Lopez hit him with, when your in shape. Style wise his jab has improved but hes still a pressure fighter. The fact he was in tip top condition allowed him to do it better. But he can still be hit and outboxed.

He is crude, slow, unrefined with not much technique, yet he is still posses a legit thread to anyone, and last night he koéd a guy faster then a PFP 154`er in canelo.

he is what he is, and I love fighters like him, all hart and strength.

tech guys like Floyd and Ward win boxing matches, but in a streetbrawl its the maidana`s of the world that would kick you ass, and in my book that counts as something.
